The first SARA Fashion Show was held on Saturday November 19th in the The Salon Belingo at Hotel Jameos Playa Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen. The evening was a great success and everyone who attended said what a
wonderful evening it was ! and we have to give a big thank you to the hotel for all their support in allowing us the use of two such wonderful venues! the evening started with a short film about Sara and all the fine work they do and then promptly at 8.00 p.m the show started. The models all looked simply stunning and people were amazed at the quality of the clothes that models wore ..so don’t forget SARA every second Saturday of the month where you can find some fabulous bargains…… Second hand is not second best.

The Fashion Show ended with all the models coming out for a final parade accompanied by Mrs Pamela Toledo Padron, who organized the event, flanked by two handsome men in evening dress. The whole evening was compered by another of the organizers, Linda Mahady and also another organizer Linda who worked behind the scenes. Thanks also to all the SARA volunteers who toiled behind the scenes.

The evening then carried on in The Salon Lanzarote where a SARA shop was created to sell all manner of clothes, shoes, handbags – all priced from €1 – 10 only ! All in all the evening was a huge success and €1.546.40 was raised for the SARA animal shelter, but if all 250 tickets had sold the amount would have been even more impressive – so keep your eyes open for future SARA fashion events and don’t miss out on the bargains!

However, the old-style note still remains in circulation and can be used normally until further notice. The Bank of England estimate that there is a significant number of £50 notes held abroad and we’ve been asked to help alert British Nationals about the new note.

Beth decided she wanted to visit Lanzarote at the age of eleven, when she overheard a friend talking about it in the school playground. Almost 20 years later she made it, leaving behind the big smoke for the island’s shores. She has written for and edited the Gazette since 2008, drawing back the curtain on the island’s cultural side; something 'not always obvious, but most definitely here'.
